A stark warning has emerged from within the world of Argentinian football, leveled at young star Alejandro Garnacho. World Cup winner Oscar Ruggeri didn’t mince words, suggesting the Chelsea winger needs a humbling dose of reality.
“He’s no better than anyone else,” Ruggeri declared, his voice carrying the weight of experience. “You’re a football player, enjoy it, but you shouldn’t be so full of yourself. It’s pointless because you miss out on so much. Someone has to bring him down to earth.”
Despite the criticism of his attitude, Ruggeri firmly believes in Garnacho’s immense talent. He insists that a shift in perspective is all that stands between the young player and a return to the Argentinian national team.

Currently, Garnacho has only eight caps for Argentina, and hasn’t featured under Lionel Scaloni for over a year. Ruggeri, a veteran of clubs like Boca Juniors and Real Madrid, sees a clear path back to the squad if Garnacho can rediscover his humility.
“If he comes back down to earth like he was, Argentina will call him up again because he’s phenomenal on the pitch,” Ruggeri stated with conviction. The potential is undeniably there, but attitude, according to the legend, is the key.
Garnacho arrived at Chelsea after 144 appearances for Manchester United, but has been carefully managed by manager Enzo Maresca. The Chelsea boss acknowledged the player wasn’t at peak physical condition upon arrival.

“Garna is doing well,” Maresca commented before a recent match. “We are trying to manage him a little bit physically, because he arrived here not 100 per cent. He is working hard every day, getting better, and we are happy with his progress.”
Chelsea’s recent form has been inconsistent, a defeat to Sunderland leaving them ninth in the Premier League table. The team faces a challenging upcoming fixture against Tottenham, currently third under their new manager.
The focus now is on integrating Garnacho fully, both physically and mentally, into the Chelsea squad. The hope is that he can harness his undeniable skill and contribute to a turnaround in the team’s fortunes.
