A teacher in South Wales is facing serious allegations regarding claims made to students about his past, claims that have raised deep concerns within Basseleg School and beyond.
The concerns began when a colleague, Ms. Davies, noticed inconsistencies in stories Scott Trigg-Turner shared with pupils. These weren’t simple exaggerations; they were narratives that painted a disturbing and improbable picture of a life lived on the edge of conflict.
Ms. Davies first became suspicious when Mr. Trigg-Turner recounted serving in Northern Ireland during the Troubles, a period in which his age would have made such service impossible. This initial doubt quickly spiraled into a series of increasingly unsettling revelations.
The most shocking claim, presented directly to a class, was that he had “killed in excess of 250 people.” When questioned by students about whether this meant he was a murderer, he reportedly justified the acts as following “military orders.”
Adding to the unsettling account, Mr. Trigg-Turner allegedly identified himself with the chilling code name “Kill Switch” and described himself as a sniper. He even claimed to still possess a firearm at his home in Cardiff, a claim he later denied during a school investigation.
He initially told Ms. Davies and students that he became disabled following a bicycle accident in Cardiff, struck by a bus when he was 18 or 19 years old. However, he offered inconsistent explanations to colleagues regarding the cause of his wheelchair use.
Further allegations surfaced concerning his conduct with students, including accusations of favoritism towards female students, unnecessary physical proximity, and even influencing an exam answer. These actions occurred during his time as a supply teacher, beginning in January 2023, and continued after he secured a permanent position in September of the same year.
Despite the gravity of the accusations, Mr. Trigg-Turner has not offered a formal response to the Education Workforce Council Wales panel. During the school’s internal investigation, he asserted that his comments about military service referred to family members and were simply misinterpreted.
The hearing continues as the panel attempts to unravel the truth behind these extraordinary claims and determine the extent to which Mr. Trigg-Turner’s alleged actions compromised the well-being and trust of the students under his care.
