The events leading to the fatal crash began in Anaheim on January 21st. Police attempted a traffic stop on Martinez, who was driving a Jeep Gladiator, due to dangerous driving behavior. Instead of complying, Martinez accelerated, initiating a pursuit that quickly spiraled out of control.
