A tense scene unfolded Tuesday evening outside a Dallas hotel hosting Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s election watch party. Police arrested a man and discovered ammunition for multiple weapons inside his vehicle, casting a shadow over the primary night festivities.
The individual, attempting to enter the Marriott hotel, immediately raised red flags. Witnesses described him as heavily disguised, wearing a face mask, hat, and gloves – an unusual appearance that prompted immediate intervention from security.
Initial reports suggest the man gained access to the hotel under questionable circumstances, requesting to use the restroom shortly after arriving. A Paxton campaign staff member found his explanation – claiming to be an Uber driver – unconvincing, particularly noting the vehicle lacked visible license plates.
Police swiftly detained the man, placing him in a cruiser and later removing him from the scene. Officers were observed removing a license plate from inside the vehicle, but remained tight-lipped about the specific reason for the arrest.
The incident occurred as attendees began arriving for Paxton’s primary night watch party, adding to the unease. Doors were scheduled to open at 6 p.m., coinciding with the closing of polls across much of Texas at 7 p.m.
The man’s actions alarmed Paxton’s staff, who reportedly instructed him to leave the property immediately upon noticing his unusual attire and demeanor. The camouflage hat, sunglasses, and face covering contributed to a sense of heightened alert among those present.
